How Many Photos Will I Get? — All About Your Sunday & Co Photography Photography Session

So…"How many photos will we receive?" It's a completely reasonable question, but the answer involves a bit more than just a number. Let's chat about what you can expect when we do a session together!

The Short Answer: Quality Over Quantity

For a typical one-hour family session in Madison, you'll receive 40-60 fully edited, high-resolution digital images. For high school senior sessions, you can expect 30-50 images, while mini-sessions typically include 15-25 carefully curated photos.

But here's what makes Sunday & Co different — I don't cap your gallery at an arbitrary number. If we capture 65 beautiful, authentic moments of your family playing at Tenney Park, you're getting all 65 images!

Why the Range?

Every session unfolds uniquely, just like your family's story. The final number depends on several factors:

Session Length

Naturally, a 30-minute mini session at the Capitol Square will yield fewer images than a two-hour extended family session at Olbrich Gardens. More time means more opportunities to capture those candid laughs and quiet connections.

Your Family's Size and Dynamic

A cozy session with parents and a newborn will typically result in a different quantity than a lively shoot with multiple children and perhaps grandparents too! Each family member adds new relationship combinations and moments to capture.

Location Variety

When we explore multiple spots around Lake Mendota or move between indoor and outdoor settings at your home, we create diverse backdrops that inspire more varied images.

Your Family's Comfort Level

Some of my favorite sessions start with shy kiddos who need 15 minutes to warm up before the real magic happens! I never rush these moments — they're part of your authentic story.

What About Culling?

Here's a behind-the-scenes peek at my process: For every delivered image, I've typically captured 3-4 frames. This means for a gallery of 50 photos, I've actually taken 150-200 images!

Why don't you see all of them? Because nobody needs three nearly identical photos of the same smile, or the images where someone blinked or looked away. I carefully select the strongest images that tell your family's story, removing duplicates, test shots, and photos that don't meet my quality standards.

This careful curation means you receive a gallery where every image is worth keeping — no need to wade through hundreds of similar shots.

Beyond the Numbers: What Really Matters

While I'm transparent about typical image counts, I've learned that most families don't actually care about specific numbers once they receive their gallery. What matters more is that we captured:

  • The way your toddler's eyes light up when you toss them in the air

  • Your teenager's genuine smile (not the forced one they give on school picture day)

  • The tender way grandpa holds your baby's tiny hand

  • The beautiful connection between siblings who might spend half their time bickering at home

These are the images that will make you catch your breath when you open your gallery — and they're the ones you'll still treasure when you're flipping through your album 20 years from now.

A Note About Printing

Your gallery includes high-resolution digital images with a personal printing release, meaning you can print these treasures anywhere you choose. However, I do recommend to go through with a professional printing service to ensure color-perfect, archival-quality prints that will maintain their beauty for generations.
